When you feel like playing a game, another player is not always available. Xiangqi vs AI keeps a ready-to-play Chinese chess board in your browser, so you can make the first move without creating an account, downloading an app, or waiting for a match.

What the board can do

Choose Red or Black and select one of five computer search levels. The board highlights legal destinations, offers a hint when you are stuck, and lets you undo a move. It also records the game in Xiangqi notation and provides step-by-step replay, rather than reducing the result to a simple win or loss message.

What this site does not try to be

There is no ranked ladder, matchmaking lobby, friends list, or daily-reward system. This is neither an online chess club nor professional training software. Each level changes how deeply the local engine searches and how long it thinks; the labels are not promises of an official playing rating.

A practice opponent, not an oracle

Search levels control depth and thinking time: Beginner searches more shallowly and responds faster, Regular is the balanced default, and higher levels use a larger search budget. Hints remain bounded calculations and may miss useful alternatives. After a loss, stepping back through the record to find where the position turned is often more useful than immediately starting over.

Where your game data stays

The browser stores the current session and replay information locally so you may continue later. The site does not require an account or build a player profile. Clearing site data, using a private window, or switching devices may remove those local records.
